Examples of adverbs
How to know if a word is an adverb?
If you can take the word out and the sentence still makes sense, it may well be an andverb.
. And there are many other adverbs which do not fit in these lists.
.. An adverbial that is just one word is an adverb.
.. We say adverbs at the start of a clause are in front position.
.. Adverbs after the verb and object are in end position.
.. This position for adverbs is called mid position .
.. But not all ‘-ly words’ are adverbs.
The position of fluently (after the verb) makes it clear it is an adverb.
The position of fluent (in front of the noun ‘English’) makes it clear it is an adjective.
Some -ly adjectives can also be adverbs, for example likely and early.
We can call these adverbs or adverbial phrases.
